MT5 trading journal

Import MT5 history into a trading journal built for review.

Forgalis TradingJournal reads supported history from the MT5 terminal you select through its packaged local bridge, then stores imported records in your Windows journal for screenshots, notes and structured review.

The MT5 workflow is read-only. FTJ does not place, modify, copy or close trades.

Local MT5 bridge workflow

Read history from the selected MT5 terminal through the current packaged bridge.

MT5 uses a local bridge executable shipped with FTJ. Select the terminal and intended account, make the required history available and preview the records before importing them into the journal.

  1. 1
    Select terminal64.exe

Choose the MT5 installation containing the account you want to review.

  2. 2
    Open the intended account

Keep the matching terminal/account active and ensure the required history is available locally.

  3. 3
    Use the current bridge

FTJ uses the packaged local MT5 bridge executable and checks compatibility before accepting the import.

  4. 4
    Preview and import

Inspect the executions exposed by the selected source, link the correct FTJ account and import the records you want to review.

Read-only local history

The bridge reads available history; it does not control your MT5 trades.

FTJ works with history exposed by the selected terminal and compatible bridge path. If the broker or terminal does not expose a historical value, FTJ does not invent it.

  • FTJ does not place, modify, copy or close MT5 trades.
  • The selected terminal and account remain the source of broker history.
  • The current 1.1.25 bridge can continue through compatible fallback history paths when a terminal-specific history call fails, but that does not guarantee missing broker data exists.
  • FTJ validates bridge protocol compatibility before accepting contract-size-aware imports.

After the MT5 import

Turn execution history into a journal record with context.

Broker history can provide prices, quantities, timestamps and realised outcomes where available. FTJ lets you add the review information that does not live in that execution record.

Screenshots and notes

Attach chart images and written reflection to the imported journal record.

Structured review fields

Use strategies, confluences, exit reasons and other reusable fields consistently across trades.

Performance review

Use dashboard measures, filters and individual records to investigate repeated behaviour across the journal.

Choose the right platform guide

If your history source is MetaTrader 4, use the dedicated MT4 guide for its installation, chart attachment and EA permission steps. The combined MetaTrader guide remains the overview for comparing both workflows.

Test your own MT5 setup

Import a small representative sample before moving your review process.

The free Demo lets you start supported broker imports while the journal contains fewer than 20 persisted trades. Verify the terminal, account mapping and resulting records with the MT5 setup you actually use.
