What is one pip?
For most forex pairs one pip is 0.0001. For pairs where JPY is the quote currency, one pip is commonly 0.01.
Why is the raw value in the quote currency?
The pair's price increment is denominated in the quote currency, so units multiplied by pip size produces a quote-currency value first.
Which conversion direction should I use?
Multiply when the rate is quote/account. Divide when the rate is account/quote. The calculator labels both directions using the selected currencies.
Does this include trading costs?
No. Spread, commission, swaps and slippage are separate from the pip-value calculation.
