Forgalis TradingJournal now supports broker import workflows through MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, alongside the existing cTrader workflow.
This means FTJ can import available broker account history through supported trading-platform workflows: cTrader, MT4, and MT5.
Broker import is designed to help traders bring available execution history into their local FTJ journal without manually entering every trade one by one.
FTJ broker import is read-only. It imports available execution history into your local journal, but it does not place trades, modify orders, copy trades, or close positions.
What is new?
The main update is support for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 import workflows.
FTJ now includes three supported broker import paths:
- cTrader platform workflow
- MetaTrader 4 platform workflow
- MetaTrader 5 platform workflow
Each workflow is slightly different.
cTrader uses browser-based authorization.
MT4 uses a local MT4 terminal together with the Forgalis MT4 bridge Expert Advisor.
MT5 uses a local MT5 terminal workflow.
The shared workflow inside FTJ is the same:
- Select the platform workflow.
- Connect or read the active account.
- Link the external account to an FTJ journal account.
- Fetch executions.
- Review the preview.
- Import selected rows.
- Confirm the result in Trades and Dashboard.
The preview step is important. FTJ does not simply import everything blindly. You can review the available rows before saving them to your local journal database.
MT4 support
The MT4 workflow is local.
FTJ reads the active MT4 account from the selected MT4 terminal on your PC through the Forgalis MT4 bridge Expert Advisor.
To use the MT4 workflow, the correct MT4 terminal should be selected, the correct account should be active, the bridge should be installed and attached to one chart, Expert Advisor execution should be allowed, AutoTrading should be enabled where required, and Account History should be loaded for the period you want to import.
Once the active MT4 account is detected, you can link it to the correct FTJ journal account, fetch executions, review the preview table, and import the selected rows.
MT5 support
The MT5 workflow is also local.
FTJ reads the active MT5 account from the selected MT5 terminal. Use the selected terminal if it is already listed, or browse to the correct terminal64.exe if needed.
After the MT5 account is detected, you can link it to the matching FTJ journal account and import available execution history through the same fetch, preview, and import workflow.
