What this tutorial covers
This walkthrough shows how individual fills are used to calculate and maintain an execution-based trade inside Forgalis TradingJournal. The workflow records journal data; it does not place or manage live orders at a broker.
- Turn a manually entered trade into an execution-based trade with Create Entry.
- Add scale-ins and partial exits while the remaining net position stays open.
- Edit fills, save the recalculated trade summary and close the remaining position.
- Use the automatic lock and temporarily unlock only when a genuine correction is needed.
How execution-based trades begin
A manually created trade starts with editable values in the trade fields. Create Entry turns the current direction, quantity, entry price and entry time into the first execution. After the warning is confirmed, the entry, exit, fees and result are derived from the linked fills instead of being maintained directly in the summary fields.
An imported trade may already contain executions when fill-level history is available. An import that contains only summary values has no execution rows and cannot be edited at fill level.
Scale-ins, partial exits and corrections
Add another fill on the same side to record a scale-in. Add a smaller fill on the opposite side to record a partial exit. While quantity remains, the trade keeps the current net direction, such as LONG or SHORT, rather than changing to CLOSED.
Select a fill and use Edit to correct its side, quantity, price, fee, execution date and time, milliseconds, order ID or notes. Each change causes the trade to be derived again from its executions. Review the updated Entry and Exit cards, then use Save Changes to persist the recalculated trade summary.
Closing and locking the trade
Close Position calculates the remaining net quantity and opens the closing dialog for exit price, fee and exit date and time. The closing quantity is not entered manually: FTJ creates the opposite fill for the full remaining position.
When the position becomes flat, the status changes to CLOSED and the final exit, fees and result are derived from the fills. Save the updated summary. Closed trades with executions lock automatically to reduce accidental edits.
For a genuine correction, use the lock control to switch from Locked to Unlocked, make the change, review the recalculated result, save and lock the trade again. Selecting another trade also resets the temporary unlock.
Reload, delete and imported records
Reload refreshes the execution list. Delete removes the selected fill and recalculates the trade, so it should be used carefully. When an imported record contains summary data only, create a new trade if fill-level executions need to be entered manually.
